Veridi Technologies Secures €2.5 Million in EU grant funding for its AI-powered Soil Biodiversity Analysis
The Hague, February 17, 2025 – Veridi Technologies, a Dutch startup from The Hague that is transforming soil diagnostics, has been awarded the €2.5 million EIC Accelerator grant. This funding will accelerate the company’s mission to make soil analysis accessible, scalable, and standardized, addressing the critical challenge of soil degradation which costs the EU €50 Billion in damages annually.
Veridi’s groundbreaking platform replaces the need for scarce experts by combining automated microscopy with AI. The system uses a camera to analyze soil samples, delivering over 90% accuracy—20% higher than traditional methods—while reducing costs by 50%. The platform is provided to customers for free, with a pay-per-use model ensuring affordability and flexibility.
This exceptional European Innovation Council recognition positions Veridi as a key enabler of the upcoming EU Soil Monitoring Law, set to take effect in 2028. The law will require standardized soil health assessments and improvement plans on a continental scale, which Veridi’s technology is uniquely equipped to support. “Our technology democratizes soil biodiversity analysis, making it mainstream and scalable,” said ir. Ziad Matar, CEO of Veridi Technologies. “This EU reward sends a strong signal, validating Veridi’s vision and its ability to deliver sustainability impact at scale, “stated dr. Joachim Schneider, early investor at Veridi and ex-CEO of Bayer Vegetable Seeds.
Veridi is poised to play a leading role in the rapidly evolving soil diagnostics market, making strides for on-farm sustainability and food security worldwide.
