These are the 8 finalists of the Hague Innovators Challenge 2021

This morning the jury announced the finalists of the Hague Innovators Challenge 2021. Out of 62 entries, four winners in two categories were chosen: pre-startups and startups. This group will start a ten-week program to work on their ideas. With the help of training on different areas, they are challenged finetune their idea in order to pitch their business plan during the finals in May.
No fewer than 62 pre-startups and startups submitted their innovative ideas for The Hague’s impact challenge of the year. ImpactCity asked 6 professionals from its ecosystem to evaluate the submissions and select the best 8 plans. This year the jury consisted of Patricia van Someren, Arthur van de Graaf, Inge Helder, Irene Samwel, Olivier van der Lande and Nina de Korte. The jury evaluated the entries on the basis of the following criteria:
- Is it a solution for an international social issue?
- Does it have a detailed and profitable earnings model?
- How innovative is the idea, product, or service?
- What are the feasibility and scalability?
- What kind of value does this idea, product, or service bring for The Hague as ImpactCity?
The chosen finalists in the pre-startups category are:
- Fruitin: a consumer spray made of cutin, a natural waxy substance from fruits and vegetables that can prolong the produce shelf life by creating a second skin.
- Scootbezorgd: a social and sustainable delivery service done by people on scoot mobiles or electric wheelchairs.
- Sustanix: a pre-startup that provides customized turnkey biodegradable plastic solutions for your business by replacing all single-use plastic items with biodegradable alternatives.
- Invisible Foods: with their “Invisible Food Manager”, they aggregate and predict food loss, support companies in creating new upcycled products, and reward efforts to reduce food waste with a data-driven certificate.
The following startups are selected by the jury:
- Iron Roots: sportswear made of sustainable fabrics.
- Odd.Bot: their ‘Weed Whacker’ robot provides a higher yield with less manual labour and contributes to less use of herbicides and in particular glyphosate.
- Trust Stamp: they deliver trusted identity systems at the heart of how organizations and individuals transact in the connected world and beyond.
- ByeWaste:this app is the simplest solution to give a second life to the clutter around you.
