Energy from water as a strategic accelerator of the global energy transition

Netherlands Water Partnership, Koningskade 40, 2596 AA, Den Haag, Zuid-Holland

The Netherlands’ future energy supply needs to be sustainable, flexible, affordable, reliable, and geopolitically robust. Innovative Dutch water-based energy solutions offer strategic opportunities to advance sustainable energy and reinforce Dutch leadership in the sector.

Renewable energy technologies at sea and along the coast – such as wave energy, offshore solar energy, and offshore energy storage – as well as inshore applications in deltas, including tidal energy and energy from salinity or temperature gradients, can have a significant impact too. These technologies complement offshore wind by generating energy when solar and wind production is low, further securing the supply and grid stability.

Join parliamentary commission members and representatives from the Dutch water sector for a roundtable discussion on how ‘energy from water’ innovations can attract the attention they deserve in the global energy transition.
